In 2006, the 3 parenting educators from Jenlia Maternal Services published their first parenting book. Asian Parenting Today was born from numerous requests by parents with whom they have worked with over the past decade. The book was written to specifically address the issues and concerns of Asian parents today

Asian parents today are often faced with the quandary of either subscribing to western practices or to follow the traditional customs of their mothers and grandmothers before them. The book addresses many of the very common childcare issues that parents today face, with special emphasis and respect to Asian cultural beliefs and practices. It provides real life questions and practical realistic solutions for new parents to help make their parenting experience in the important first year an enjoyable one.

The book is published in English and has since been translated into Mandarin as well.

Testimonial

I have benefited from this book “Asian Parenting Today” during my daughter’s first year. The authors have made things so simple to follow and easy to read that I was able to pick things up fast and follow. The best part was the results were accurate. I can’t find a better guide in the Malaysian context to help first time mothers get through their baby’s first year. Grandparents and relatives have great advice but there are not practical for this day and age. This book has helped me to cope in all aspects in managing and looking after a first born. It’s a must for every new mother!!

Highly recommended! “Asian Parenting Today” not only for first time mothers but also for all mothers. The book presents a practical guide to infant care in a systematic step-by-step way. The book provides a comprehensive guide, right from breastfeeding to meal preparations to hygiene care, safety for children and handling emergencies.

APT (Asian Parenting Today) is one of the best baby care books I’ve ever read.  It is concise, straight to the point and very informative.  It provides lots of info that can’t be found in many other baby books, especially in the local context.

The charts and sample schedules provided on establishing routine, sleep and feeding of solids, etc. were especially helpful.  More for feeding of solids, the menu, schedule and recipes really helped me a great deal when my baby first started solids.

Friends would frequently ask me for baby tips and I’ll always refer them to APT.  I’d brought many copies of APT as gifts to many of these first time moms, who like me needed something concrete to guide and steer them in caring for their babies.

Thank you for coming up with a book like this.  It did help me a lot with my first born when I needed informative factual and sound advice from the experts.

“Made in Asia”, designed specially for Asian parents. I find this cool, very helpful and informative as it caters specially for Asian parents like me. Some of the information is not found in other parenting books. The authors truly understand what Asian parents go through during the baby’s first year. I will recommend this book to all Asian parents and parents-to-be.
